Continental Cup in Riga & Ritten

The IIHF Continental Cup season continues this weekend with the second-round tournaments in the Latvian capital of Riga and in Ritten, Italy.

Italian champion Ritten Sport will host Group B with Hungarian champion MAC Budapest, Slovenian champion Acroni Jesenice and Serbian champion Crvena Zvezda Belgrade. The organizer will stream all games live on a pay-per-view basis for €5 for one game of €20 for all six games.

The winner of this group will advance to the third round that will take place in Belfast in the United Kingdom, 15-17 November with the Belfast Giants, GKS Katowice (Poland) and Medvescak Zagreb (Croatia).

The other group of this weekend will be staged in Latvia at the new arena of Latvian champion Kurbads Riga. Group C also includes Ukrainian champion HC Donbass, Spanish champion Txuri Urdin San Sebastian and Skautafelag Akureyrar. The Icelandic champions qualified after writing history as the first team from the country to win the first round. The winner of the tournament in Riga will move on to Group D of the third round in Lyon, France, 16-18 November with Kazakh champion Arlan Kokshetau, HK Gomel from Belarus and host Lyon Lions.
