Gamers from all over the world can now play as their official national teams and will soon be able to compete in three different IIHF-licensed competitions on the NHL 22 video game.

Following a licensing agreement with the IIHF and its members national associations, EA SPORTS has made NHL 22 a truly global experience with IIHF content, now available in-game as part of the latest video game patch update.

Starting today, players can lace up their skates and experience the IIHF World Junior Championship tournament. In addition, all the current men’s senior national team jerseys and branding have been updated to add a more realistic look and feel to the game’s international competitions.

In another exciting development, playable women’s teams will soon be available for the first time ever with the IIHF women’s national teams and IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship to be present in NHL 22. Players will be able to celebrate this golden era of women’s hockey by playing as their favorite teams and players. Starting early 2022, players can hit the ice with icons like USA’s Hilary Knight, Canada’s Marie-Philip Poulin, and Finland’s Jenni Hiirikoski, among many other superstars.

The IIHF Women’s’ World Championship tournament update will come in January 2022 with a patch that will make the tournament playable, together with the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.

In all, 24 IIHF Member National Associations will be represented in NHL 22, with more to come in future installments.
