The Global Girls’ Game started in the night from Friday to Saturday near New Zealand’s largest city of Auckland. During 44 hours of this weekend the fourth edition of the #GlobalGirlsGame will be held across the world covering Oceania, the Far East, the Middle East, European venues from the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk in the east to Granada and Sheffield in the west as well as games on the American continent (Argentina, Canada, Mexico, USA) with the last one being held in Detroit on Sunday.

Together with the try-out events of the World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend annually held in autumn (mark your calendar for the next edition: 5-6 October 2019!), the Global Girls’ Game is an initiative to grow women’s ice hockey at the grassroots level all around the world and this year a record number of 40 countries will participate in the Global Girls’ Game.

This fourth edition of the Global Girls’ Game also creates history. Luxembourg is not only part of it for the first time but will also organize the first women’s ice hockey game in the small country’s history (see story)!

There will be 40 games with the pairing Team Blue vs. Team White that will add up to the aggregate score. Players and teams from all around the world will be connected to each other and cheer for their blue and white colleagues.

You can follow the action all weekend long on the 2019 Global Girls’ Game page, on our social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and our Instagram story, and by using the hashtag #GlobalGirlsGame. Go girls!
